Engineering with Emotion
Swiss company EROWA is the market leader in a highly specialised field defined by technology and precision: automated metalworking. Their core products are so-called chucks—devices that hydraulically grip and release parts for automated milling machines, ensuring maximum hold and ultimate precision.
A changing market, growing competition and copycats, and new product features prompted EROWA to rethink the design language and product identity of its chucks.
Nose took on this complex challenge. The main task was to find design measures that could unite an almost overwhelming, purely functional product range and create a distinctive EROWA identity—while also highlighting their premium quality.
In close collaboration with EROWA’s engineers and specialists, Nose launched a convincing redesign. The technical parts’ form was refined through subtle design changes, reminiscent of a diamond cut, and marked with a distinctive brand label. The products not only gained a striking new look, but, thanks to cleverly integrated individual part numbers, logistics were also simplified. The addition of the “swiss precision” brand mark further underlined EROWA’s high standards of quality.
An innovative coloured LED light strip was seamlessly integrated into the core product, visually communicating the chuck’s various states and adding an emotional dimension—putting EROWA’s market leadership in the spotlight. The premiere of this new identity at the EMO trade fair in Hanover was met with enthusiasm.
