Cosiness at over 300 km/h
The new interior design vision is modern and friendly, and it impresses with a lot of attention to detail. Warm, natural materials, covers made of high-quality fabric, and nuanced colors determine the new look. The new seats are ergonomically optimized and designed as a personal retreat. Elements like tablet holders and coat hooks in each backrest as well as inductive charging of cell phones provide practical functionality.
A seat in the ICE is used on average 1,500 times a year and remains in use for several decades. Therefore, the material selection was given additional attention to durability and wear resistance in the spirit of sustainability. Functional innovations can also be found in the open luggage racks. They offer plenty of space for luggage and provide flexibility on the journey. A harmonious lighting concept subtly rounds off the experience. The situationally adaptable, indirect lighting provides a spacious atmosphere throughout the train. In the on-board catering area, an innovative seating concept in combination with the new service color Burgundy creates a feel-good experience. The future interior of the ICEs forms a design family with the newly designed DB Lounges and thus offers a consistent travel experience at different touchpoints.
DB CEO Richard Lutz was enthusiastic: «The new design is geared towards the demands of our passengers for modern travel comfort, significantly more individuality, and even more sustainability. We are sure that we will inspire even more people for the climate-friendly rail.»
The new sense of space for Deutsche Bahn will be rolled out step by step in all future ICEs in the coming years. From December 2023, a first version of the new design will be on the road with the ICE3 Neo.
