Büchi:

Convenience for Laboratories Product Design

down
At Büchi, everything revolves around the users of its products. In a modern laboratory, all processes must run quickly, safely and cleanly, with maximum precision and reliability. For more than 25 years, Nose has supported Büchi with all of their developments from conception to the production-ready product in order to ensure that Büchi remains the market leader in laboratory equipment.

The Rotovapor R-300 is like the Porsche 911 of rotary vaporisers. Each generation has undergone a fundamental technical overhaul but has always remained true to its characteristic values.

A Family of Devices with a Distinctive DNA
In a modern laboratory, equipment rarely stands alone. Many processes require the interaction of different devices in many combinations. We therefore regard the individual devices as members of a family. The design language reveals the unmistakable Büchi DNA and thus holds the entire equipment family together. The new R-300 rotary evaporator, together with the cooling unit and the compact vacuum pump, is a convincing example of this.

Evolutionary design creates long-term value and lasting customer confidence.

Evolutionary Design
Büchi makes no compromises when it comes to quality. The life expectancy of the entire product range is correspondingly high. Nose has therefore always made sure that the essential characteristics are retained across all devices and generations and that new technologies can be integrated into the design in an evolutionary way without older devices appearing outdated.

Efficient Operation with Exemplary Comfort Laboratory equipment is operated by people with very different levels of training. Both semi-skilled assistants and highly qualified academics must be able to work efficiently with it. That's why Nose developed operating concepts that work extremely intuitively and still fulfil individual preferences and needs. The operation has thus become an essential part of an unmistakable Büchi user experience.
Exemplary User Experience for All Needs and Efficiency
The operating concept developed for the Rotavapor system on the I-300 Pro interface is remarkable in many respects. The entire process can be controlled completely independently using the touchscreen, the rotary-push button or also in combination. For example, you can tap a value with your left hand and adjust it with your right using the rotary knob. This feature considers the individual preferences of the user and speeds up the operating process and therefore efficiency. Designed with sophisticated logic and a modern, minimalist design, the operating concept has been chosen as the new benchmark for future Büchi products.

Modularity as an Advantage for the User
The product family of the new Büchi freeze dryers was designed to be modular from the outset. The fold-out touchscreen control panel can be used in the same form for different appliance types. In addition, the control panel can be positioned on two different sides, depending on the user's needs and the available space.
Modularity as a Cost Factor
By using identical components for several device types, it was possible to massively reduce the cost of parts per unit on the one hand, and the development and manufacturing costs of the individual devices on the other. Incorporating the design at an early stage and taking an overarching view has therefore paid off in many ways.

Modularity also as an advantage for users

Customised Alignment of the Device
The fold-out touchscreen display can be docked on two different sides of the device to accommodate the space available to the user. Thanks to an early and intelligent design, this could be realised without additional costs.
