The Azerbaijani State Railways is resurrecting the legendary “Orient Express” on the Baku-Tbilisi-Istanbul route. Stadler Rail supplied the appropriate rolling stock and NOSE ensured a modern travel experience through a well-thought-out design concept.
In addition to the standard and comfort class, the train also offers a luxury class in which each compartment has its own bathroom. With many practical details, this wet room ensures great travel comfort and, when rotated by 90°, is also used in the comfort class. There it is shared by up to four people. The same layout offers an advantage of scale in small series production, thus ensuring better economics.
For all three classes, current Azerbaijani ornamentation was used and a coordinated color concept was developed that takes up the typical regional color coding. Lighter colors tend to be assigned to the higher classes, while dark colors characterize the lower transport classes.
The train thus manages the balancing act between modernity and tradition. Design, technology and cost-effectiveness point the way to the future and revive the tradition of comfortable long-distance rail travel.
