The metallic sheen of the copper has an amazing effect from a distance. Depending on the weather and the position of the sun, the edge of the train catches the light differently every time and can therefore shape the character of an entire landscape.

But not all copper is the same. The colour had to be neither too yellow nor too red. Finding the right grain size for the metallic effect was crucial for the long-distance effect of the train composition.

As the Treno Gottardo, it brings a piece of railway construction history to life along the historic Gotthard route, and the Aare-Linth is the name of the route from Bern along the Churfirsten to Chur.
